Lafayette, La (NBC33) — Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Deputies are still working to identify a burned body found in a car.
Deputies were called to a car fire early in the morning on October 8. Upon arrival, they found a body in the trunk of the burnt car.
"We're still trying to positively identify the body; that'll probably have to be done through DNA testing,” said Captain Craig Stansbury with the Lafayette’s Sheriff’s Office. “We started the investigation at that time."
The body was so badly burned that DNA testing is the only way to identify the man. Deputies are treating the case as a homicide. They still don't have any suspects.
Anyone with any information on the case is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 344-STOP (7867).
