BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Governor Bobby Jindal on the LSU campus to address how important TOPS is in this upcoming election.
Constitutional Amendment 1 will divert a portion of the state's tobacco funds to TOPS. Jindal says it's the only way to keep TOPS secure. He says over 50 percent of the students in Louisiana are on scholarship from tops.
"Constitutional Amendment number one will help to protect over $47 million dollars in funding for TOPS immediately,” Gov. Jindal, said. “Over time that will increase to over $100 million dollars, so long as I'm governor I've committed we will continue to fully fund TOPS."
