Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Local students learned what to do today in case of a fire. It was all part of a fire drill at Woodlawn Elementary School this morning.
Students were shown how to get out the school as quickly and safely as possible. St. George firefighters also simulated rescuing four students who were not able to make it out in time.
The students also received medical treatment from EMS workers. It's a drill that was entertaining and educational for the students involved.
"It was really fun and it helped me learn a lot about safety for fire," said Belle Carpenter, a fifth grader.
This is the first time the Saint George Fire Department has taken part in a fire drill in more than twelve years. Woodlawn Elementary School plans on making fire drills like this an annual event.
