NEW YORK, NY (NBC33) — A $2.8 billion fund designed to help people who became sick after working at ground zero is now accepting applications.
Requests for the September 11th victim compensation fund are being accepted starting Monday.
Most illnesses common among people who worked at the site are being covered by the fund, expect cancer which the government says has not conclusively been linked to working a the site.
The deadline for applying is October 3, 2013, or 2 years from the time someone learns that an illness was from working at ground zero.
