BATON ROUGE, La (Woman's Hospital) —
On Sunday, Oct. 2, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Woman’s will host the 13th annual Pink on the Plaza, where guests can wine and dine on the city’s best culinary delights, dance the night away to live music,
and help local women battle breast cancer – all for just a $25 donation.
Held at the downtown Baton Rouge
Hilton Capitol Center, the party also includes a silent auction where patrons can bid on several highly desirable items, including:
Sammy’s Grill crawfish boil for 50
Juban’s wine dinner for eight
Two Southwest Airlines roundtrip tickets
One week stay at a beautiful Watercolor, Florida beach condominium
Two tickets in Kathy Miles’ Box and one parking pass for LSU vs. Western Kentucky
The community can also support breast cancer outreach by purchasing a $50 raffle ticket for the chance to win $5,000. Only 300 tickets will be sold. For more information or to purchase event and raffle tickets, please visit www.womans.org/wvo .
Pink on the Plaza serves as the pre-party to the Woman’s Victory Open golf tournament, held at the Country Club of Louisiana. Both events honor breast cancer survivors, tournament players and sponsors and all proceeds benefit Woman’s Hospital’s breast cancer outreach and education programs, including the Mobile
Mammography Coach. The coach will be open for tours throughout the event.
Annually, the Woman’s Mobile Mammography Coach provides onsite mammograms to underserved women at 105 locations throughout a 15-parish area. Approximately 40 percent of the patients using the mammography coach have no insurance, and in rural parishes, that number skyrockets to nearly 90 percent.
If caught early enough, 93 percent of breast cancer cases can be cured, therefore access to mammograms is critical to saving lives. Since 2006, the mammography coach has performed more than 20,000 mammograms and detected undiagnosed cancers in more than 100 women. Last year, 5,300 women were served through
this vital resource.
