The Baton Rouge General Mid City and the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) will host a candidates forum in anticipation of the fall election on October 22, 2011. The forum will begin at 11:00am in the Baton Rouge General Mid City Atrium (3600 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70806) with lunch being provided for the seniors.
This forum will provide a unique opportunity for the senior population of East Baton Rouge Parish (now 70,000+ strong) to meet the candidates as well as hear their varying positions. Additionally, candidates will be given a chance to answer a slate of questions created and submitted by seniors.
“At the heart of this community, the General’s Mid City campus, is often described by patients and visitors as “home away from home”. Combining those attributes with a vision to structure our services around the needs of our senior community, we are working to become the area’s hospital of choice for seniors and their caregivers,” noted Dr. Floyd Roberts, Chief Medical Officer and Dean of the Baton Rouge Campus of Tulane University School of Medicine.
“Right now is a pivotal time to advocate for seniors,” says Tasha Clark-Amar, EBRCOA Executive Director. “This forum is an exciting opportunity for seniors to advocate for themselves by making their voices heard through the execution of political responsibility.”
