NBC News — Suspected Mexican drug traffickers dumped 35 bodies on a main road in Boca Del Rio tuesday during rush hour. Gunmen pointed their weapons at drivers and blocked traffic while the bodies were dumped. Boca Del Rio is located on an important route for drugs and migrants from Central America heading north. The bodies were left piled in two trucks at an underpass near a shopping mall in the city.
Police have identified seven of the victims so far, and all of them had criminal records for murder, drug dealing, kidnapping and extortion. All were linked to organized crime, although the Veracruz State Attorney General did not say what group the victims belonged to. Government statistics say more than 35,000 people have been killed by drug related violence in Mexico since 2006.
