BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — Jury selection began today in the second degree murder trial of suspected serial killer Jeffery Guillory.
More than 200 potential jurors made their way into the 19th Judicial District Court today in the first of what is expected to be two days of jury selection.
Guillory is charged with the murder of Renee Newman back in April 2002. He is alleged to have strangled the 46-year old Baton Rouge resident. Despite that alleged murder and others he is suspected of committing more than a decade ago, District Attorney Hillar Moore says that DNA helps keep cases like these alive.
Guillory's trial is expected to last about a week.
