Walker, la (NBC33) — Last night, the town of Walker officially became a city, but some residents are conflicted about the transition.
Mayor Bobby Font sat on the Walker City Council last night when the decision was finalized.
He says that with the designation of becoming a city comes the responsibility of upgrading the infrastructure, roads, and waste management system. But he said some of the residents he's spoke with are on the fence about the decision.
"Half of the population here in Walker are pro growth, and they want businesses, and retail establishments closer to home," said Font.
