NBC NEWS — President Obama sent his $447 billion job-growth package to Congress today. He's urging republicans to put politics aside and pass it.
The president was joined in the Rose Garden by a group of teachers, police officers, construction workers and small business owners. All people the president says would benefit directly from the bill.
More than half of the plan is comprised of tax cuts for working Americans and small businesses. It also includes spending initiatives in areas like infrastructure.
“This is the bill that Congress needs to pass,” said Obama. “No games. No politics. No delays. I'm sending this bill to congress today. They ought to pass it immediately."
Obama outlined the package in his September 8 address to a joint session of Congress.
