BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — No hangover. No looking ahead. LSU took care of business Saturday night by dominating Northwestern State, 49-3. Senior quarterback Jarrett Lee completed 9-of-10 passes in the first half, one for a touchdown. Lee injured his ankle and said he could have played in the second half but the Tigers chose to give Zach Mettenberger a chance to show his skills for the first time. Mettenberger completed 8-of-11 of his passes and a touchdown. Running backs Michael Ford and Spencer Ware each crossed the goal line twice.
The Tigers defense continued their stellar play by holding the Demons to just three points. The Demons offense rushed for negative four yards and passed for under 100 yards. Morris Claiborne led the Tiger defense with six total tackles.
LSU (2-0) will face Mississippi State (1-1) on Thursday night in Starkville, Mississippi.
