BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — Southern University's budget is still not complete. The drop dead date for getting it finished was supposed to be Tuesday night. The chancellor's office received an extension after its appeal for financial emergency was denied by the Southern Board of Supervisors.
Now, instead of furloughing all tenured professors, the school must find other ways to close the budget gap.
After the Chancellor's office completes its budget, it must submit it to the Southern University System's office. It then goes to the state Board of Regents for final approval. The budget is expected to be sent to the Board on Thursday.
