BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — A mother and daughter received quite a scare when a tree fell on their home this morning.
It happened around 8 a.m. this morning on the 10500 block of Darryl Street.
Nobody was hurt when the tree fell, but it did cause downed power lines and the family's car to become trapped underneath it. Lasandra Smith says this isn't the first time it's happened..
"It's the second time, so i just feel like I'm blessed,” said Smith. “That's the second vehicle that (a tree has) fell on."
Smith says she was about to go run some errands when she heard the loud rumble of the tree falling on her home.
All that wind is bringing down lots of trees in the area; the fire department in Central called to four different calls since last night.
None of the trees hit any homes, but several cars were damaged. No injuries were reported from any of those falling trees.
