An animal cruelty case out of Livingston Parish led to the arrest of two people.
Sheriff's deputies took Elgin John Melancon and Mimi Melancon into custody on Monday.
Authorities got a tip that nearly a dozen dogs were left at a vacant home on Glascock Lane in Walker. Investigators found pitbulls, chihuahuas, and other dogs, chained to fences and running loose.
Many of the animals were malnourished. Nine dogs were captured and treated.
