Plaquemines Parish, La (NBC33) — Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser says his parish is ready for whatever's brewing in the gulf.
We caught up with him in Baton Rouge today. Nungesser says this morning, crews began clearing out storm drains and canals throughout Plaquemines Parish. He's also asking parish residents to clear up any loose items in their yards.
"This ain't our first rodeo… Four hurricanes, an oil spill - we're pretty good at these things,” stated Nungesser. “But we always want to be over prepared and hope for the best."
Nungesser tells NBC33 there's some concern in coastal areas where levees are less than three feet tall. He thinks it's possible Plaquemines Parish will see some flooding.
