Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Faculty Senate says the administration's proposed furloughs is not the answer to saving the school money.
Senate Faculty President Sudhir Trivedi says if the proposed furloughs happen the university will lose teachers, and students.
The university's faculty pay only makes up 30% of the budget.
Trivedi adds the adminstration's salary takes up more of the budget, so they need to take pay cuts.
"Less than thirty percent of the budget is spent on faculty salaries, i just don't understand why there's so much emphasis on cutting the faculty, this is after all a faculty thing, for teaching students, not for cutting grass!,"stated Trivedi.
