BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — The Southern University Board of Supervisors has decided to delay an exigency vote until August 31. The faculty has until then to come up with a plan to avoid financial disaster for the school. One of the options put forward is for ninety percent of the faculty to take ten percent furloughs for the next two years. Faculty Senate president Sudhir Trivedi says it is important for the school to avoid financial exigency at all costs.
He says, besides furloughs for faculty members, furloughs for administrators need to also be considered. NBC33 was unable to reach Chancellor James Llorens for comment about this story.
