BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A Baton Rouge father allegedly shot his daughter’s unarmed boyfriend to death after a heated argument.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call on Monday, Aug. 22 just after 7:00 p.m. As they were en route to the house on Blackwater Road, deputies were informed that a shot was fired at the location. When they arrived, they found a man dead outside the home. He has been identified as Scott Shipp, 23, of Baton Rouge.
Wayne Landry, 57, was found standing in the doorway of the home. Officials say Landry was involved with an argument with Shipp, who was the boyfriend of Landry’s daughter.
Earlier that evening Shipp arrived at the home with his girlfriend. Shipp remained outside of the home in his vehicle. Landry called the Sheriff’s Office to have him removed from the property. As deputies were driving to the home, Shipp knocked on the door to the home, but Landry told him to leave. When Shipp refused, Landry allegedly shot him. Shipp was unarmed and died as a result of his injury.
Landry was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Second-Degree Murder.
