STORMTRACKER33 — Tropical Storm Irene has formed near the Leeward Islands. It currently has winds of 50 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph. It will be moving due west for the next couple of days, and could possibly become the first hurricane of the 2011 season as it approaches Hispaniola. The future track puts Florida at risk in about 5-6 days. We will continue to keep a close eye on this system as all of the models are not in total agreement yet. It will be possible for the track to flip flop a couple of times as we head into the beginning of this week.
We are always tracking the tropics here in the STORMTRACKER33 Weather Center, and we will keep you updated with up to the minute information as it becomes available.
