Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Secretary of State's office is fighting a lawsuit with the Department of Justice over voter registration.
The US Department of Justice says Louisiana isn't doing all they can to get people with special assistance such as Medicare to vote.
Secretary of state Tom Schedler says Texas and Georgia are also going through the same process.
The Secretary of State's office says almost 80% of louisianians are registered to vote.
And with that large number, they don't know what else can be done.
"Let's suppose you and I are already registered to vote, well you can't get me to vote twice, so the more and more you do, the less and less opportunities" - said Secretary of State, Tom Schedler
