BATON ROUGE, LA — U.S. Sen. David Vitter today announced that he is hosting a forum on spending and debt to hear from constituents in East Baton Rouge Parish and the surrounding areas tomorrow morning. Vitter will be joined on a panel by Mark Perry, an economist and scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and Dan Juneau, president of Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.
“News of the downgrade in our credit rating has created a lot of confusion and unease for many Americans and I’m looking forward to hearing the views of common-sense Louisianans,” said Vitter. “We’re very lucky to have financial experts at the forum to help alleviate some concerns about interest rates and discuss proposals to make real debt reducing cuts to federal spending – obviously something that Congress has been reluctant to do.”
Vitter opposed the debt limit increase, stating the legislation did not change the spending and debt outlook.
