BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — Monday night, the Brusly High School Gym hosts ‘Carry the Light for Sylviane’, a candlelight vigil for the missing teacher. Organizers say people in 26 states and eight countries will also light candles for Sylviane at the same time. They say it's sign of hope that she will be found alive.
Sylviane’s family in Belgium last heard Sylviane on July 5th. She was reported missing July 11th. In the weeks since she disappeared, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies say they’ve uncovered enough suspicious activity to make them suspect foul play.
EBRSO says Sylviane’s husband, Oscar bought bag of conrete mix, called Quick-crete on July 6th - the day after Sylviane went missing. They have yet to find those bags or an area where they could have been used.
On July 9th, Oscar Lozada left the country with the couple’s five year old daughter. They flew to Venezuela. Detectives say their return flight was set for July 14th, but they did not return. Investigators lost contact with Oscar at the end of July.
Monday’s candlelight vigil will begin at 7pm inside the Brusly High School Gym at 630 Frontage Road. For more information, search ‘Sylviane Lozada’ on facebook and click on ‘events’.
