Denham Springs, La (NBC33) — Tonight, Livingston parish residents got a chance to hang out with police at "National Night Out".
It's part of a nationwide effort for citizens to get to know the people who put on the uniform, and feel comfortable around them.
Tonight, everyone enjoyed carnival rides, a rock wall, and free food!
Sheriff Willie Graves says people having fun is a good thing.
"Sit in the helicopter, ride the rides, give em some free jambalya, hot dogs, and bubba burgers... Yeah, they know we're they go to guys when they need something, that's what this is all about. " - said Sheriff Graves
