NEW ROADS, La (NBC 33) — New Roads Mayor Robert Myer announced he is now offering the residents of his city a free program that can help them save money on the high cost of prescription medications.
The Prescription Discount Card Program, which is available through the National League of Cities, can help residents save an average of 23% off the full retail cost of prescription medication.
Residents eligible to participate in the program include those who are without health insurance, a traditional pharmacy benefit plan, or have prescriptions not covered by insurance.
“The high cost of prescription medication can be a tremendous burden for many of our families. I am glad the City of New Roads can provide this benefit, at no cost to the city and at no cost to the residents,” Myer said.
Myer said residents can pick up the prescription discount cards at the New Roads City Hall at 211 West Main Street.
He also said residents can print a card at www.caremark.com/nlc and call toll-free 1-888-620-1749 for assistance with the program.
Myer noted that no enrollment or membership fees are required, and no restrictions or limits on the frequency of use of the card are in place. The cards can be used by all family members, and even many pet medications are discounted with the card.
