BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) - — With temperatures nearing the century mark and heat indices even higher, we're all feeling the effects, "it's pretty hot. Heat's extremely bad right now." says Richard Kimbrell.
But it's more than just the heat that's getting to people like Richard Kimbrell, it's the humidity, "It's too bad outside, especially down here in this part of the country, the humidity is terrible."
So, he and his coworkers do some things to try and make working out in the heat a little bit better, "we try to drink aa lot of fluids, we have a lot of gatorade, lots of water." They're not alone. "I try and stay hydrated," says Benita Ball. They're also taking frequent breaks.
During the heat of of the summer, health experts remind you to stay hydrated. That's something Richard says is a no-brainer, "stay out of the sun as much as possible, drink plenty of water, hydrate yourself, that's the main thing."
