STORMTRACKER 33 — Don has not changed much overnight and remains a Tropical Storm with sustained winds near 40mph. Don continues to move WNW at 9 mph. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the Texas coast in response to the latest forecast track. The intensity forecast is tricky but the National Hurricane Center guidance shows some strengthening through Saturday morning making landfall as a solid Tropical Storm with winds of 50mph.
Locally as long as Don remains weak we will see more showers and locally heavy rain over the area but if Don becomes stronger the moisture pool over the Gulf will close in and even fewer impacts will be felt. Some increase in tides along the coast over the weekend can be expected.
