BAKER, LA (NBC33) — Two men are behind bars tonight accused of shooting a woman with a flare gun when she refused to give up her purse.
Police say the woman was walking to her home and crossed through the Walmart parking lot located on Plank Road in Baker. That's when she said two men ambushed her and tried to take her purse. She refused so the crooks shot her in the leg with a flare gun.
Within four minutes of calling Police, one suspect, Jasper Bivens was arrested. Police say they had a full tracking team and two K-9 units within minutes of the call.
"This is not something we take lightly in Baker. Any crime,” Chief Mike Knaps, Baker Police Department, sternly warned. “It's not the place to come play. You shouldn't be doing this anywhere, but you got to know that you're not going to come to Baker and put you in jail and we going to let the DA take care of the rest."
Jaspen Bivens and Patrick Piper were both booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Attempted Armed Robbery and Attempted Second Degree Murder.
