NEW HAMPSHIRE (NBC33) — Former Louisiana Governor "Buddy" Roemer kicked off his republican Presidential campaign today in New Hampshire. Roemer made the announcement at Dartmouth College.
Roemer has been campaigning hard in New Hampshire. He has even relocated to the state that holds the earliest presidential primary. He says he made the move to build name recognition and support, and he did it all by accepting no donation larger than $100.
"I run to reveal and challenge the control of the special interest, over our nation's capital and demonstrate the freedom to lead that can only come from refusing their money,” he said during his speech this morning. “I run as a proud republican, but an even prouder American."
Roemer was not always a republican. He served as conservative democrat during his four terms in congress, but switched parties while serving as Governor of Louisiana.
