Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Robert Baily of Baton Rouge lost both of his legs below the knee in a tractor accident just days after he bought a bike to ride from Boston to San Francisco.
Five years and two prosthetic legs later, he is back on his bike a ready to hit the road for a similar trek, over 450 miles in the hills of Iowa. Baily says the riding is not just good for his physical health.
"Bicycling especially is a great way to escape the very real depression when you are an amputee," states Baily.
Bailey gives a special thanks to those at Hanger Prosthetics for helping get him get back on the road.
