HOUMA, La. (AP) - A water park that has been part of the landscape in the Houma area for more than 20 years is being demolished.
Waterland USA opened in 1987 but its giant water slides have been taken down and the new owner of the site says it will be redeveloped into another commercial property.
Its previous owner says the park attracted up to 300 people on weekdays and 500-700 per day on weekends. But, after a renovation in 2006, the park was damaged by Hurricane Gustav last year and the owner decided against another renovation.
