ORIGINAL STORY: Correctional Officers and K-9 search teams from Dixon Correctional Institute (DCI) are searching for an offender who escaped from the facility in Jackson, Louisiana around 6:30 p.m. on June 19.
Jeremiah Benoit, 33, is a white male, 6 feet tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has green eyes and tattoos on both arms.
Benoit is serving time for second degree kidnapping, aggravated burglary and escape.
Teams are searching near the prison as the suspect was spotted in a wooded area close by. The First Call alert notification system was used to notify residents and businesses in the area.
