BATON ROUGE, LA — State Representative, Patricia Haynes Smith is announcing her re-election bid for Louisiana House of Representatives – District 67 in Baton Rouge. District 67 starts below River Bend subdivision, is bordered on the west by the Mississippi River, and encompasses LSU, Old South Baton Rouge, Downtown Baton Rouge, a portion of midtown bordered by Acadian Thruway to the east, as well as a portion of North Baton from the Governors Mansion up to Lorraine Street near Tony’s Seafood on Plank Road.
Haynes-Smith, is the chair of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, as well as the Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus Committee. She also has been appointed to the Bright Start Committee, Louisiana Workforce Commission Advisory Committee, and Nurse Family Partnership Task Force, among other appointments and membership in various Legislative organizations.
Haynes-Smith has worked tirelessly for education reform, job creation and training, economic development, penal reform, and health care services.
“For the past 3 1/2 years as your State Representative, I have continued to be the voice of the District 67. I’ve maintained my integrity, and worked hard to bring jobs and business opportunities to our state. I also continued my fight for the best education for our children, as well as penal reform for the incarcerated,” says Haynes-Smith.
