Drivers who use the street parking in Perkins Rowe will soon be paying for that convenience. Management has installed nearly 200 meters to deter employees and residents from using long term parking. There’s still plenty of free parking in lots and garages. The move is also anticipated to help improve street flow by about 30%. Management says the meters will stop most drivers from looking for curbside parking, which creates traffic.
Shopper Jerica Gros says, “It will cut down on college students parking here just to park. Nobody wants their car to get towed away.” Matthew Hayes works at Perkins Rowe and says, “People who park there for long periods of time won’t be happy they have to walk to the garage now.”
The meters haven’t been activated yet, but they should be in operation within the next month.
