Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — LA Swift has received a new contract, which means you can catch a ride on the commuter bus service for another year.
The Department of Transportation and Development says a $2.3 million federal grant will fund LA Swift through June 30, 2012. The current contract just expired last week.
The company ferries commuters from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and back for just $5 each way.
The service began after Hurricane Katrina, when many New Orleans workers moved to the Capitol City.
