Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Elizabeth “Lizzie” Wicker , an eighth grade honor roll student at Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet School, won first place in the National Black and White Photography Competition held June 16-21 in Nashville.
The competition was part of the National Junior Beta Club Convention.
The photo, which depicts the interior of a 1950s Chevy truck framed by the broken rear window, placed second in the State Junior Beta Club Competition held earlier this year.
After receiving a camera as a Christmas present two years ago, Wicker began taking more and more photos of people and places, especially those of environments that convey a message.
