Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — One way to help the community is through volunteering. From fires to flooding, the Red Cross assists families facing loss due to disaster, and they depend greatly on support from the community.
With the first named storm of the season, they're getting the word out about being prepared, and as you work to keep your family safe, they hope you'll consider signing up to be a volunteer.
Nancy Malone, with the Baton Rouge Red Cross, states, "We know this community responds. They come out and volunteer… but it takes us some time to get you registered, to go through the application process, and then to get you trained. If you have a Saturday to give, some of our training is online; do it at home in your pajamas. Be prepared to help your neighbors as well."
If you want to volunteer, there are several different ways to do that training.
