Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — U.S. Congressman Bill Cassidy joined health care providers and caregivers at the Old Governor's Mansion today to discuss home health care. Lawmakers are trying to reduce health care costs in Louisiana and nationwide.
Skilled home care may be a more inexpensive and effective means of helping the elderly and disabled. Louisiana has two of the four main offices in the country for home healthcare.
Congressional lawmakers such as Bill Cassidy says it'll save money, and personnel.
"You are eliminating the entire overhead of the building. You may have a nurse that goes out, but it's one nurse a couple of times a day, not a bunch of personnel all throughout the day," said Cassidy.
