Age may only be a number, but moving that number into the tripple digits can turn an average birthday into a parish-wide proclamation.

Herbert Carter Sr. of Lesttworth, La is turned 100 years-old today! The life-long Louisiana resident was honored two days ago when Pointe Coupee parish designated today as Herbert Carter Day.

This father of nine lives a life considered more active than someone much younger than he. Just a month ago he spent his vacation time in Cozumel, Mexico. Traveling, playing bingo and attending church are just a few of the ways he keeps busy. The rest of his time is spent with family, which includes thirty-six grandchildren, twenty-nine grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

We here at NBC33 News wish him a happy birthday.

Congratulations Cousin Herbert!!!.....Love Ya!!!Constance Franklin

Congratulations to Mr. Herbert!!!!! I am proud of him. He is sort of in my family because my brother-and-law Genie is his nephew. My family, at least the older ones knows him well, and they told me just a few weeks ago when I shared his pic that this man is nice and he is still here because of GOD and he is the type of guy who has always mind his business and did the right thing. Congratulations to your entire family and Mr. Hubert has reached an age that many of us can only dream of..:)
