Painter's replacement named
BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) Senator Troy Hebert is the new commissioner of Louisiana's Alcohol and Tobacco Control board.
The Lafayette lawmaker was announced as the ATC's head Wednesday. Hebert was 1 of 10 people who applied for the job.
The agency's main task is to regulate the alcohol and tobacco industries in Louisiana. State Police Colonel Mike Edmonson led the search. He says Hebert's long legislative career helped seal the deal.
Troy Hebert replaces Murphy Painter who resigned from the office in August. Painter is accused of sexually harassing a former employee and misusing ATC equipment and computers.
