Oxford House wins legal battle
BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — A group home which helps treat people with drug and alcohol addiction sill stay open.
A judge has issued a temporary injunction to keep Oxford House open, at least for now.
Judge James Brady ruled the addiction clinic was not violating family zoning laws in residential areas, as the parish had claimed. This is because the clinic houses severaldisable people.
Assistant parish attorney Joseph Scott says, "we are disappointed in the judge's order, but we think that there's room for the right kind of resolution for a final decision." Scott went on to say the parish's attorney office is still deciding whether or not to contest the preliminary injunction.
