Catholic Charities has been helping out of work fishermen and their families since the Crisis on the Coast began. Now the New Orleans branch says it strapped for cash and is joining a group of 26 other non-profits asking BP for $12 million. The groups say they need the money to continue funding programs aimed to help families hit hardest by the oil spill.
Though not quite as overwhelmed as other Catholic Charities affiliates spread across South Louisiana, the Baton Rouge branch has also found itself in a bit of a money crunch. But that doesn't mean they won't lend a helping hand to their sister agencies in their times of need.
