Diane Olinde is an Air Force veteran. She came out to the wreath laying ceremony at Port Hudson Cemetary to honor all those who died for their country, "This is the very first one. I didn't know about it. I just thought it was just so special and made a special effort to attend to be here," says Olinde.

Two of those people were her parents, Army veterans, and days like this mean a lot to her, "It's very special to have such a remembrance of my parents. It's very heartwarming," says Olinde.

"They fought for freedom. They fought for representing the state of Louisiana. They fought for our nation," says keynote speaker Russel Honore. Retired Lieutenant General Russel Honore was the keynote speaker at the event. He says the ultimate sacrifice that Olinde's parents and other veterans have made should not have been made in vain,"We need to give the things in our nation that those who gave their very last measure to fight and die for and to give their service to our nation."

And Olinde hopes that the sacrifices that veterans made won't be forgotten either, "I think as time goes on people aren't dwelling on this as much as they used to."
