PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (NBC33) — Dozens of volunteers in Prairieville came out to help a wounded veteran fix up his front lawn.
Volunteers put in new patches of grass and created a garden.
It's all part of the Homes for Our Troops program. The group is building a home for Army Cpl Jeffrey Argrave.
Argrave was seriously injured in Afghanistan during a rocket propelled grenade attack. He says the program is giving him a new chance at independence.
"The support system out here has been great," said Argrave. "Every time I come out here my mind gets blown with how many people actually come out and help and work as hard as they do and everything else. It's been a really special mind altering experience."
Argrave says the house is almost complete and he should get to move in soon; after that, he says he plans on going back to school.
