Whole Foods hosting a t-shirt recycling drive for Earth Month

BATON ROUGE, LA — In celebration of Earth Month, the Whole Foods Market Louisiana stores are hosting a t-shirt recycling drive through April 30 for The African InKNITiative, a non-profit organization that benefits Ugandan women in refugee camps.
The African InKNITiative repurposes t-shirts into scarves, which were featured in the Whole Foods Market stores during the 2011 holidays.
In addition, the stores will collect new and gently used sports equipment for the Son of Saint Foundation’s REPLAY program at the Arabella and Veterans locations and Greater Baton Rouge Area Sports Foundation at the Baton Rouge store. The desired equipment includes:
Basketball: balls, shoes (new only), nets (not rims or posts)
Baseball/Softball: baseballs and softballs; bats, mitts, batting gloves, cleats, batting helmets, catcher’s gear
Football: footballs, helmets (new only), shoulder pads, tugs, cleats (new or slightly worn), football gloves
Fishing: poles, fishing boxes, bait
Golf: golf bags, clubs, balls
Hockey: sticks, pucks, pads
Soccer: balls, cleats (new only), shin guards, goalie gloves, goal nets
Tennis: racquets, balls (new only), ball hoppers, grips (new) and over grips, new strings
Volleyball: balls, knee and elbow guards
Coaching supplies: clipboards, air pumps and needles, stop watches, training cones, whistles, first-aid kits, referee uniforms.
