Well loved and respected philanthropist passes away

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A man recognized for giving back and making a difference here in the Baton Rouge community has passed away.
Howard Bolton was 83 years old and definitely made his mark.
"I started working with Howard in 1971," said Bill Bonnette, current owner of Bolton Pharmacy.
Howard Bolton opened his pharmacy back in 1962 then sold it to Bill Bonnette three decades later.
Today, that very pharmacy on Perkins Road is still going strong.
"He started us on dating our customer’s one on one and it's paid off with all the competition and everything we have around here his philosophy of life is carried on around in our institution," noted Bonnette.
Bonnette says Bolton was a man who wanted to make people feel better, and he did.
After opening the first free pharmacy in the state alongside St. Vincent de Paul, that pharmacy successfully filled more than three million dollars worth of scripts just last year.
"When he was with the board of pharmacy he made a huge impact state wide as far as the pharmacy goes he added a lot of pizzazz to it a lot of regulations he is very well respected," said Bonnette.
He was well respected, well loved and now well remembered.
"He is a fantastic person very generous compassionate great sense of humor got along good with everybody."
