Watson, La (NBC33) — In Watson, hundreds of volunteers from all across the country are working to build a Baptist church from the ground up.
It started as a slab of concrete just two weeks ago. Now, you can see the large building frame of the soon to be church.
More than 100 volunteers were on hand just last week.
One person at the church overseeing the construction says he's amazed by the outpouring of support and help he's getting.
“The savings, in dollars, are absolutely critical for us to be able to get into a facility,” stated Leroy Shilling with the Watson Baptist Church. “ We wouldn’t be able to build this type of facility without the help of volunteers.”
Volunteers are scheduled to be back on the site this weekend, and construction is set to wrap up by October.
