ZACHARY, LA (NBC33) — 100 seniors in Zachary got a free turkey to help prep their Christmas feast.
The people at Miller and Daughter Mortuary handed out free birds to the first one hundred people in line early Saturday morning.
With in minutes workers say the turkeys were gone and a large group of seniors when home happy.
"I think it just give people a sense of having something, because the economy is just so bad and so when people have something they can look forward to for the holidays it just gives them a sense of happiness," Shelley Moore, event worker, said.
Event organizers say next year they plan on doubling the amount of turkey given out.
