Three arrested in Denham Springs vehicle burglary case
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Tyree Davison, Darius Shaw, and Devanta Richard are all facing dozens of burglary charges after Livingston parish investigators connected them to more than thirty vehicle thefts in two neighborhoods. They're all young - and neighbors aren't surprised.
"That's a game to them, it's called vehicle surfing. They just go up and down the street, checking the cars to see if they are locked or unlocked. And if it's unlocked they find what they can find," said Linda Griffin of Denham Griffin.
"I actually said these are probably going to be some young adults to teenagers and that is usually what we have when it comes to vehicle burglaries," added Jason Ard, Livingston Parish Sheriff.
Investigators had their work cut out for them and got some help when they got a call from East Baton Rouge detectives, who were already investigating these guys for "similar" crimes.
"Got in touch with them, we were able to work together. And so far we have been able to put several of those burglaries on the three suspects that were arrested in East Baton Rouge and we have charged them," said Ard.
The people who live in these neighborhoods say they're happy investigators were able to move so quickly.
"The police work was right on and excellent because I know if they could just get one child, one kid, that child is going to spill it all," said Griffin.
Griffin hopes now that they're in jail, the trio will be prosecuted.
"It should be taken more seriously because I know this will pass and they will do it again if they get off. They'll do it again," she said.
