Dozens of high school students from across Louisiana and their families came to Baton Rouge Saturday to learn more about the armed forces service academies.

It was all part of Service Academy Day at the Louisiana State Museum. The event featured representatives from the Military, Air Force, Naval, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard Academies.

The representatives were able to give the students a better idea of what it takes to get into these academies, and what it will be like once the students actually get there.

Dutchtown High School Junior, Joseph Orgeron, attend the event for the past few years. He said the representatives helped pump him up about life after high school.

"That even I can do some of this stuff. That I can actually go to the academies get my degree. Come out as an officer. Be the best that I can be," Orgeron said.

The event was hosted by U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) and Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-La.).
