St. George Firefighters brought a little holiday fun to the neighborhoods in their fire district.

People came out to see santa riding on a fire truck. The santa parade is a tradition dating back to the 1960's.

The firefighters collected donations for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. They also collected unwrapped toys for 'Christmas for the Challenged'.

Firefighters say the parade brings out the best in their community.

"It's great to see families out here by the curb," Eldon Ledoux, with the St. George Fire Protection District, said. "It's great to see parents and grand parents teaching their children and grand children how to give, and the enthusiasm of which everyone greets Santa Claus. "

The Firefighters will be back on the road showing santa off to new neighborhoods Sunday, and next weekend.

Last year they collected over 20,000 pounds of food for the food bank.
